George Leslie Mackay

I was taking some photos of the Woodstock Court House, and found this statue. It is interesting on several levels. I had never heard of the man before.

There were many tiny figures in his luxuriant beard, relating to his life in Taiwan.

The water buffalo is my favourite.

And there were three inscriptions on the back of the bust!

This is my favourite, and a sentiment relevant to the season!

Fascinating piece; what a creative bend to intertwine figures in the beard! thank you for posting this and great close up photos.

How interesting to put the tiny figures in his beard. I'm so glad you noticed them!
